I’m definitely a fan of pictures over words as a means of grabbing attention and getting a message across.  So the rise of video, animations and infographics has been very welcome.  Too often, however, I groan when I see another infographic which is a barely concealed list of bullet points.  What on earth are you trying to tell me?

I stumbled across the picture below on a LinkedIn post.  It’s from an area we work in, but I trust it makes you smile even if you are not and you can see how well it uses a picture to communicate something that can be quite complicated to the outsider.  Next time you are pulling together an infographic, ask yourself whether it passes the “Pizza as a Service” test of actually saying something.

(By the way, you can tell how good a graphic it is by searching on “Pizza as a Service” – it’s got quite a life of its own now!)
